Solution

Exothermic reaction- The type of reaction in which heat energy is released to get products from the reaction of reactants is known as an exothermic reaction.

  • During these reactions bond is broken and energy is released into the surroundings causing a rise in the temperature of the surroundings.

Let us understand it with an example.

When we dissolve Calcium oxide (CaO) in the water we get Calcium hydroxide and a lot of heat energy is released to the surroundings.

Cao(s)Calciumoxide+H2O(l)Waterā†’Ca(OH)2(s)Calciumhydroxide+Heat
