Tectonic plates:
The lithosphere is broken up into plates called as tectonic plates. On Earth, there are seven or eight major plates and many minor plates.​​​​​​​
Bhabar :

• Bhabhar is a narrow belt covered with pebbles lying along the foot of Shiwaliks from the Indus to Tista.
• They are laid down by numerous stream descending down the hills.
• The pebbled beds are parallel to the slope of river - bed.
• This belt is about 8 - 16 km in width.
