Evaporation

Open in App
Solution

  1. Change of the state of matter: It is a process in which a material changes from one physical state to another physical state like solid to liquid or gas to liquid etc
  2. When material changes its state it either absorbs or releases heat energy.
  3. At a given temperature in any gas, liquid, or solid, there are particles with different amounts of kinetic energy.
  4. In the case of liquids, a small fraction of particles at the surface, having higher kinetic energy, is able to break away from the forces of attraction of other particles and gets converted into vapor.
  5. This phenomenon of change of a liquid into vapors at any temperature below its boiling point is called evaporation.
  6. The process of evaporation occurs on the surface of the liquid.
