Solution

Exosmosis:

  1. Exosmosis is the outward movement of water from a cell through a semipermeable membrane.
  2. When a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, the water in the cell flows out causing the cell to become flaccid or shrunken.
  3. Exosmosis occurs because the surrounding solution has a higher solute concentration than that of the cytoplasm.
