(a) Heterogeneous mixture :

A mixture in which its constituents are not distributed uniformly is called a heterogeneous mixture. Generally, the mixtures found in nature are heterogeneous.

  • For example, soil is a mixture of sand, clay and other hundreds of compounds and elements. Its composition varies from place to place. A mixture of black salt, common salt, sand particles and turmeric powder is a heterogeneous mixture.
