Solution

  1. Peristalsis: Peristalsis is a radially symmetrical contraction and relaxation of muscles that propagates in a wave down a tube, in an anterograde direction, so as to move food to different processing stations in the digestive tract.
  2. Omnivore: Omnivore is a consumption classification for animals that have the capability to obtain chemical energy and nutrients from materials originating from plant and animal origin.
  3. Pylorus: The pylorus is the furthest part of the stomach that connects to the duodenum.
  4. Kilocalorie: A unit of energy of one thousand calories (equal to one large calorie). One (1) kilocalorie is the same as one (1) Calorie (upper case C). Generally speaking, 1 kilocalorie = 1000calories (definition here).
  5. Basal metabolic rate: (BMR) is the rate of energy expenditure per unit time by endothermic animals at rest.
