Denatured protein is irreversibly precipitated protein brought about by heating the protein with alcohol, concentrated inorganic acids or by heavy metal salts. Protein gets uncoiled and its shape and characteristic biological activity are destroyed. When egg is boiled, egg white is coagulated. Conversion of milk to curd is also an example of protein denaturation.
