Open in App
Solution

Given that:
38,70,48,40,55,63,46,54,44
To find: Range=?
Solution:
Range for ungrouped data: Range is defined as the difference between the maximum and minimum values of data. Although range is the simplest measure of dispersion and is easy to calculate but it is not a good measure of dispersion because it ignores varaition among all other values and depends upon only two extreme values.
Arrange data in ascending order:
38,40,44,46,48,54,55,63,70
Range= Highest observation - lowest observation
Here, Highest observation =70
Lowest observation =38
Range=7038=32
