Solution

  1. The density of a substance is defined as the mass per unit volume.
  2. Density is the measure of how tightly a material is packed together.
  3. Density is shown with the Greek letter ρ( rou ).
  4. i.e., Density (D) =Mass(m)Volume(v) or D= mv.

Units of density :

  1. The SI unit of density is kgm3.
  2. CGS units of density is gcm3.
  3. gcm3= 1000 kgm3.
  4. The mass of water having a volume of 1cm3 is found to be 1 g. So, its density is 1gcm3 in the CGS system and 1000 kgm3in the SI system.
