Define the term magnetic field of a magnet. How will you recognise it experimentally?

Magnetic Field: The space around a magnet in which a magnetic substance such as a small piece of iron experiences a force of attraction is called the magnetic field.
Experiment:

1. Place a magnet below a sheet of stiff paper.
2. Now spread some iron filings on it.
3. On tapping the sheet gently, the iron filings are found to arrange themselves in a definite pattern.
4. This pattern represent the magnetic field.
