Solution

1. Easting: In maps to show the direction towards east the term easting is used. Easting is x-coordinate and helps to measure the eastwards distances.
2. Northing: In maps to show the direction towards north ñorthing term is used. Y-axis coordinates ñorthing it also helps to measure distance.
3. Grid: A grid is a network of a series of vertical and horizontal lines constructed the perpendicular to each other. One series of lines runs from East to west and other from North to south.
4. Arbitrary grid: when grids of the maps are drawn on random data they are called arbitrary grid. It generally is drawn from field data and then analyses.
5. Grid square: At the time of drawing maps vertical and horizontal lines are drawn which intersect each other to create a grid. Each grid is termed as a grid square.
6.Co-ordinates: co-ordinates provide the convenient reference points for the determination of location, distance and direction relationship on the ground as well as on the map.
