Metallurgy is a term of science that deals with the extraction of metals in the purest form from their ores that are found occurring naturally in the environment.

For example, aluminium is extracted from bauxite $\left({\mathrm{Al}}_2{\mathrm{O}}_3.2{\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\right)$, a common ore of aluminium. Zinc blende $\left(\mathrm{ZnS}\right)$ is the common ore of zinc from which zinc is extracted.
