Pollution:

  1. Unwanted change in the physical, chemical, and biological nature of the environment due to the presence or excessive addition of substances that are poisonous to the environment and cause harmful changes in the earth's environment.
  2. It includes loud noise, vehicles, buildings, etc. The word Environment included land, air, and water.

Pollutant:

  1. An undesirable substance present in the environment is responsible for pollution of the atmosphere, land, water, etc.
  2. It is present in concentrations that are harmful to the environment and the organisms.
  3. Pollutants are of two types:
  • Biodegradable pollutants- For example; discarded food, paper, etc.
  • Non- biodegradable pollutants- For example; polythene bags, plastic and glass bottles, etc.
