Turgidity is the state of the cell in which the cell wall has stretched to its maximal capacity, and can no longer accommodate any more water molecules.
The fully-distended cell is known as the turgid cell.
Turgidity helps to provide rigidity to the plant parts such as leaves.
Turgor pressure:
The turgor pressure is the outward pressure exerted on the cell wall by the cell sap in a fully-distended cell.
Turgor pressure is essential for the opening and closing of stomata.
