The two nation theory declared that Hindus and Muslims constitute two different nations and that their socio, economic, cultural interests are different. This theory was formulated by Muhammad Ali Jihhan.

Jinnah supported this theory because he wanted an independent separate nation for Muslims. This new nation would safeguard and promote Muslim interest. This theory became the basis for the creation of Pakistan.
