Question

Define wave velocity. Deduce the relation with angular frequency omega and propagation constant k

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Wave velocity means how fast does a given phase is moving at a given frequency .It is given by

v=λf (λ=wavelength,f = freuency of wave)

Wave constant k=2πλ ----1ω =2πf -----2dividing 2 by 1ωk=λf(using v =λf)ω=v × f
