  1. A work is said to be done on a body when a force causes a displacement in its direction.

Some examples

For the work to be done, there must be some displacement. If there is no displacement, no work is said to be done.

Work is done in the following situations :

  1. Moving a table.
  2. Pushing and pulling a door.
  3. Walking.
  4. Lifting a rock.
