An acid is a molecule or ion capable of donating a hydron (proton or hydrogen ion H+), or, alternatively, capable of forming a covalent bondwith an electron pair

or Simply we can say acid is a a substance with particular chemical properties including turning litmus red, neutralizing alkalis, and dissolving some metals; typically, sour-tasting liquid of this kind

Acids are sour in taste. The sour taste caused by most of the common things that we use every day is mostly due to the presence of some kind of acid in it.
Example: Lemons and Oranges- Citric Acid; Tamarind: Tartaric Acid; Vinegar-Acetic acid.
