The
clearing of forests to obtain timber and provide space for either agricultural
zones or urban development is called deforestation. When trees are felled, they
release the carbon they are storing into the atmosphere. This carbon mingles
with greenhouse gases from other sources and contributes to global warming. Due
to massive global urbanization and agricultural development, deforestation is a
major factor contributing to climate change. Deforestation is resulting in
increase in concentration of pollutants in ecosystem.
