As discussed in the videos, a constant function is nothing but a line parallel to x – axis as shown in this figure.

Now as per the definition of derivative it gives the instantaneous rate of change of a function with respect to the variable on x – axis. But as you can see that the constant function is not changing with respect to the variable on x – axis. So its derivative is zero.
