Question

Derive an expression for energy consideration

Open in App
Solution

consider a body that is initially at rest and starts to move due to an applied force

initial velocity ‘u’ = 0 and final velocity ‘v’ = v

we know that , v^2 - u^2 = 2as

therefore , s = v^2 - u^2 / 2a

now , work done = force x displacement

therefore , w = ma x (v^2 - u^2)/ 2a

a will get cancelled and u = 0

thus , work done = 1/2 mv^2

and work done is equal to energy or kinetic energy
