Question

Derive the following equation for a uniformly accelerated motion where the symbols have their usual meanings:
v2=u2+2as

Open in App
Solution

From the first equation of motion,
v=u+at
t=vua...........(i)

For a uniformly accelerated motion, Average velocity=v+u2...........(ii)

Displacement=Average Velocity×Time

Substituting from (i) and (ii),
s=(v+u2)×(vua)
v2=u2+2as
