Chemical equation can be represented in words as well as in symbols and formulae

Example

To form hydrochloric acid (H2SO4), hydrogen (H) is directly combined with chlorine (Cl). This is a rapid reaction that takes place above 2500C.

This reaction can be represented in words as below

hydrogen + chlorine = hydrochloride acid

The above equation can be represented in symbols and formulae as

H2 + Cl2 = 2HCl
