Describe an activity to separate a mixture of sand and salt.

(i) Keep the mixture of sand and salt in a beaker and add some water to it.

(ii) Leave the beaker aside for some time the sand will settle down at the bottom.

(iii) The sand is separated by decantation or filtration.

(iv) Transfer the decanted liquid containing salt to a kettle and close its lid. Heat the kettle for some time.

(v) Salt can be separated from water by evaporation and then condensation.
