Describe an experiment to prove that sound can transmit through liquids.

Open in App
Solution

The sound usually travels on waves.

That's why they need a medium to spread them. This medium can be soil, liquid, or gas.

You can do a simple experiment to prove the ability of sound to pass through water.

  1. First, bring water to a deep bowl. then take two large metal coins.
  2. Then hold these two coins with both hands. (one coin per hand)
  3. Dip your hand into the water in the bowl containing the coin.
  4. Clap your hands as if moving through the water to make the coins collide.
  5. When coins collide, they make a clicking sound.
  6. This experiment proves that sound waves can travel through liquids.
