Describe an experiment to show that each source of sound is a vibrating body.​

Experimental set up:​


Procedure:​

1. Take a ruler.
2. ​Press one of the ends on a table with the hand as shown.
3. Then pull down the other end of the ruler with our other hand and then leave it.​

Observation:​

1. The ruler vibrates and we hear a humming sound coming from it.​
2. After some time, the ruler stops vibrating. No sound is then heard.​

Conclusion:​
The humming sound is produced only because of the vibrations of the ruler. So, we can say that a vibrating body is necessary for sound generation.​
