Anaphase is an active phase of mitosis.
In this phase, the two chromatids separate at the centromere and begin to move in opposite directions towards either end of the spindle network called poles of the cells. Important features of this phase are as follows:
• Chromosome splits and daughter chromatids separate.
• Chromatids move towards opposite poles.
• Centromere leads and arms follow.
