Describe black body radiation with proper example.

  1. Take two identical thermometers and blacken the bulb of one of them with black shoe polish.
  2. Suspend them from the iron stand and record their temperature.
  3. The temperatures on both of the thermometers will be the same.
  4. Then place the iron stand in front of the electric heater for five minutes.
  5. We can observe that thermometer with blackened bulb records higher temperatures.
  6. The temperature in the thermometer with a blackened bulb will also drop suddenly if we placed it back to the room.
  7. The objects which are in darker or black color absorb and reflect radiant heat quickly, these bodies are known as black bodies.
  8. The radiations occurring with blackbodies can be termed as black body radiation.
