Question

Describe characteristics of gases in terms of compressibility.

Open in App
Solution

Compressibility in gases

  1. Gases do not have fixed shape and volume.
  2. Intermolecular force of attraction between the molecules of gas is almost negligible. Molecules in gases are having very weak force.
  3. The molecules of gases are in random motion due to negligible force of attraction.
  4. They do not have a fixed position and are in translatory motion.
  5. Due to this they have large intermolecular space between them.
  6. Due to this they are compressible.
