  1. These are such kinds of diseases that can spread from an infected person to a healthy person via various agents.

Modes of transmission of communicable disease:

1. Through direct contact-

  • Some germs spread through direct contact and they cause diseases like the common cold, chickenpox, and measles.
  • These can spread through clothing or articles used by a sick person.

2. Through food and water-

  • Many common insects carry germs and they contaminate the food and water that we consume.
  • There are some diseases that are caused by eating infected food or drinking polluted water they are typhoid cholera, and jaundice.

3. Through air or droplet infection-

  • This type of infection involves droplets released in the atmosphere in case an infected person sneezes or coughs without covering his nose or mouth.
  • These droplets in the atmosphere when inhaled by a healthy man cause the disease.

4. Through animals and insects-

  • Insects like mosquitoes, flies, and bugs are known to be vectors that spread diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya.
  • They carry germs from the infected person when they bite the healthy person the germs get transferred into the blood of the healthy person.
