Rajputs made remarkable contributions in the field of art and architecture. They constructed beautiful temples, magnificent palaces and vast forts which are major tourist attractions even today. They also patronised painting.

• Temples: The renowned Rajput temples include the Kandariya Mahadeva temple at Khajuraho and the Dilwara temple at Mount Abu.
• Palaces and forts: Hawa Mahal at Jaipur and vast palaces at Udampur are excellent specimens of palace architecture. The Gwalior fort in Madhya Pradesh is a distinctive architectural marvel among Indian forts. This gigantic fort has been described as “the pearl among the Indian forts”.
• Painting: Wall paintings and miniature paintings flourished during the Rajput period. The paintings were done on the walls of palaces, temples, inner chambers of the forts and on the books as decoration.
