Describe Kingdom Plantae and Animalia.

Kingdom Plantae:

  1. Kingdom Plantae includes multicellular, autotrophic organisms.
  2. Plants contain a green pigment called chlorophyll which allows them to prepare their own food in the presence of sunlight.
  3. Plant cells have cell wall made of cellulose.
  4. Some of the plants show distinct parts such as roots, stems, leaves, buds and flowers, while others show only leaves and stems, not bearing any flowers or buds.
  5. Some may be non-green and devoid of leaves.

Examples: Unicellular alga-Chlamydomonas, filamentous alga-Spirogyra, moss, fern and trees such as pine, fir, cedar, mango and banyan etc.

Kingdom Animalia:

  1. Kingdom Animalia includes multicellular, heterotrophic organisms.
  2. Animal cells do not have cell wall. They have only the cell membrane.
  3. Animals are not able to prepare their own food and as such depend upon plants or other animals for their nutrition.
  4. Majority of the animals move from one place to another with the help of their locomotory organs in search of food, shelter and a safe place to breed.

Examples: Fish, frog, snake, eagle, parrot, dog and camel etc.
