Rutherford's model of an atom:

  1. In 1911, Rutherford gave a nuclear model of the atom.
  2. According to Rutherford model, an atom consists of positively charged particles concentrated at the center known as the nucleus.
  3. The size of the nucleus is very small as compared to the size of the atom.
  4. The electrons revolve around the nucleus in well-defined orbits.
  5. Most of the space inside an atom is free.
