Traders explored several sea routes along the coasts. Other routes passed across the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Sailors took advantage of the monsson winds to cross the seas more quickly. So, if they want to reach the western coast of India from East Africa or Arabia, they chose to sail with the south west monsoon.
