Arguments against democracy
a. Though democracy is the most popular form of government as it allows people's participation and grants civil and political rights, there are flaws associated with it.
b. Democratic form of government have has been questioned on various issues like it leads to instability, frequent change in the government brings about discontinuity in the policy making process.
c. It is about competition and power - Political leaders in order to come to power bring about polarisation of a society, that may create groups and factions in a society thereby creating disunity. They also resort to muscle and money power or may exploit social divisions like caste, religion so as to come to power.
d. It delays the decision making process as there are a large number of people involved in it and also involve and have to follow cumbersome procedures.
e. Most of the people in India are illiterate who are generally swayed away by political tactics of parties and are unable to make informed choice.
