Usually in winter months there
is no rain as the winter monsoon move from land to sea and do not carry any moisture.
Some weak temperate cyclones
from Mediterranean Sea causes rainfall in parts of India like Punjab, Haryana,
Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh. The average winter rainfall in Delhi is around
53 mm. In Punjab and Bihar, rainfall remains between 25 mm and 18 mm
respectively.
Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in
the north-eastern parts of India also have rains between 25 mm and 50 mm during
these winter months.
Some parts of Tamil Nadu,
Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh receive about 35% of their total rainfall
during this season.
