Insect allergy:

The allergic reactions to insects like ticks, mites, flies etc., are called insect allergies.

Causes:

  1. Biting insects like mosquitoes, kissing bugs, bedbugs, fleas, etc., can cause allergic reactions.
  2. Non-bitting insects like cockroaches and mites also can cause allergies.

Symptoms:

  1. Swelling in the throat or tongue.
  2. Swelling and itching in the area around the bite
  3. Difficulty in breathing.
  4. Dizziness.
  5. Stomach cramps, nausea, or diarrhoea.

Prevention:

  1. Full-sleeved clothes and closed shoes should be worn when outdoors.
  2. Insect repellent should be applied to exposed areas.
