a. Film industry has evolved over the years, with changed roles, of both male and female actors
b. Film industry has often been argued been male centric in nature, with most films being made around main male protagonists.
c. The nature of roles that male actors have been performing, may have changed , but even till date most films revolve around males
d. This has most to do with patriarchal nature of Indian society and societal mind set
e. They were and still continue to be depicted as the guardian, saviour , protector in any films
f. With regard to female actors, one can notice stark change, as earlier female actors were merely supported their male counterparts, with few scenes and songs.
g. Though women centric films were made but they were not really accepted by the society.
h. Women were more type caste, with not much scope for their growth and development.
i. With time, more women centric films are made which are being accepted and embraced.
j. Present genres of films have allowed women to exhibit more of their talent .
k. Present films have touched upon various social issues confronting the society like dowry, rapes, domestic violence with female actors coming up with power packed performances.
l. Thus, one can witness a change in the depiction , nevertheless, it is still argued that film industry is male dominated and roles are much meatier for male counterparts
