Describe the conflicts between the Greeks and Persians. What were its results?

During the 5th century B.C., the Persian emperor Darius attacked Greece. At this time various city-states came together and fought victoriously against the Persians. But, after ten years, the Persians made one more attempt to conquer the Greek city-states. During this war the city of Athens was burnt down. Even then the Persians could not conquer Greece. But, the city of Athens could not recover fully from this blow.
