Fleshy fruits: The fruits having water content or juice within their pericarp can be termed fleshy fruits.

  1. The pericarp of a fleshy fruit has three different layers, i.e. epicarp, mesocarp, and endocarp.
  2. The epicarp is the outer layer of the fruit which is crunchy.
  3. The middle layer is the mesocarp pulpy and full of juice.
  4. The inner hard layer is called the endocarp which houses the seed within.
  5. For example, Papaya, mango, etc.
