Different states of Matter:-
(i) Solid:-
The particles are tightly bound due to the strong intermolecular forces.
They have definite shape and volume.
They are rigid and incompressible.
Eg:- Metal.
(ii) Liquid:-
The intermolecular force is weaker than that of solid but stronger than gaseous state.
They have definite volume but not shape.
They are loosley held as compared to the solid. Hence, they are compressible.
Eg:- Water.
(iii) Gas:-
The intermolecualr forces are very weak among gaseous molecules.
They neither have a definite shape or volume.
The particles are very loosely held and are highly compressible.
Eg:- O2 gas.
