Solution
DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid
Watson and Crick gave the double helical structure of DNA. It is seen that DNA is composed of the different type of nucleotides that combined together. Watson and Crick suggested that in a DNA molecule there are two such polypeptide chains arranged antiparallel or in an opposite direction that is one polypeptide chain runs in 5'-3'direction and other in 3'-5' direction.
The two strands of the double helix are antiparallel due to a phosphodiester bond.
The polynucleotide chain has a sugar-phosphate backbone with nitrogenous bases directed inside the helix.
