Griffith introduced heat-killed S-strain bacteria Streptococcus into a mouse along with living R-strain bacteria. The mouse died but the scientist recovered living S-strain bacteria from the dead mouse.

After the experiment, Griffith arrived at the conclusion that the R strain bacteria take up something from the environment which converts them into the S strain bacteria. this causes a violent nature in the bacteria. Giffith thus discovered Transformation.
