Describe the factors on which the amount of radiation absorbed by an object depends.

  1. Radiation is the means of transferring heat in which no medium is required.
  2. All objects radiate heat and the amount of heat transferred depends on the following factors:
    (a) The colour and texture of the surface- Dark surfaces absorb and radiate more heat than light surfaces.
    (b) Surface area- If we compare two objects with the different surface areas then objects with more surface area radiate more heat.
    (c) Surface temperature- Higher the temperature of the surface, the greater will be the radiation emitted by it.
