Question

Describe the formation of sea breeze in coastal region

Open in App
Solution

A sea breeze is the wind that blows from large body of water towards or onto a landmass; it develops due to difference in air pressure created by differencing heat capacities of water and dry land. As sea breezes are more localized than the prevailing winds. Because land absorbs solar radiations far more quickly than water, a sea breeze is a common occurrence along coasts after sunshine. Sea breeze is also known as onshore breeze.
