Solution
The heart is a mesodermally derived organ situated in the thoracic cavity between the two lungs, slightly tilted to the left.
It has the size of a clenched fist.
FUNCTIONS OF THE HEART:-
First, it receives deoxygenated blood carrying metabolic waste products from the body and pumps it to the lungs for oxygenation.
To pump oxygenated blood to the other body parts.
To maintain blood pressure.
To pump hormones and nutrients to different parts of the body.
The heart functions in the following ways:-
The right auricle receives deoxygenated blood with carbon dioxide(

) from all parts of the body.
The collected blood is then transported to the lungs for purification.
In the lungs, the exchange of gases takes place and oxygenated blood is sent back to the left auricle which pumps it to the left ventricle.
The left ventricle pumps off the purified blood to all parts of the body through arteries.
