  1. Immunoglobulin is a glycoprotein synthesized by plasma cells.

Immunoglobulin E (IgE):

  1. IgE is produced by plasma cells.
  2. It is found only in mammals.
  3. IgE monomers consist of two light chains and two heavy chains, the epsilon chain contains four Ig-like constant domains.
  4. IgE has an essential role in type I hypersensitivity reactions.
