Important factors which we required for agriculture are as follows:
  1. Soil and climate : Favourable conditions of soil and climate are vital for agricultural activity.
    1. Climate with large number of days with sunshine.
    2. Fertile soils permit growing of more than one crop annually on the same plot.
  2. Arable land: The land on which the crops are grown is known as arable land.
  3. Rainfall: There are the areas of heavy rainfall in our country supports quick regeneration of vegetation.
  1. Diversified topography :
    1. Mountains like Himalayas extending from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh.
    2. Hills like Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats.
    3. Plateaus – Deccan plateaus and Chhota Nagpur plateau.
    4. Plains like Indo Gangetic plains and Sunderban Deltas. Deltas provide best arable lands.
  1. Human efforts: Factors like –
    1. Availability of irrigation
    2. Use of machinery and modern agricultural inputs.
    3. Use of High Yielding Varieties (HYV) of seeds, insecticides and pesticides.
