  2. First we place the irregular object such as the palm of our hand on graph paper.
  3. Then plot the outline of it on the graph paper.
  4. Count the number of complete squares in the outline. Let it be a.
  5. Some squares may be half-complete, more than half-complete, and less than half-complete.
  6. Count the number of half-complete and more than half-complete squares. Let it be b.
  7. Neglect the less than half-complete squares.
  8. Now the total area is given by the equation
    Totalarea=areaofonesquare×(a+b)where,ano.ofcompletesquaresbno.ofhalfcompleteandmorethanhalfcompletesquares.

Hence, we can find the area of irregular objects using the graph paper method.
