• $\mathrm{Carbon}\mathrm{monoxide}\left(\mathrm{CO}\right)$ is highly poisonous gas.
• If a sample of air containing $0.5\%$ carbon monoxide by volume is inhaled, we may die.
• This is because the molecules of carbon monoxide combines with the haemoglobin present in the blood cells and form a stable compound called carboxyl-hemoglobin.
• This does not allow to absorb $\mathrm{Oxygen}\left({\mathrm{O}}_2\right)$.
• Thus depriving our body cells of $\mathrm{Oxygen}\left({\mathrm{O}}_2\right)$.
• This causes obstruction in respiration and causes death.
